This is a very easy recipe to make your own sweetened condensed milk. The ratio of the ingredients is 50% milk and 50% sugar. Boil until the milk is thick and creamy. When cooled and refrigerated the condensed milk will become thicker.
- 1 cup Milk
- 1 cup Sugar
- optional: pinch of Baking Powder
- Boil 1 cup of milk and 1 cup of sugar in a large pan. While boiling, continue to stir to dissolve sugar and prevent sugar from sticking to base. When milk reaches boiling point, reduce heat to low and allow to simmer for 20 – 30 minutes to condense milk.
- When milk has condensed, take off heat and stir in a pinch of baking powder and stir. The baking powder will make the condensed milk froth.
- Allow cooling before placing in the fridge. Can keep for up to 2 weeks.
